HOW TO: GET THE GLOW

Make sure your home is full of ambience and light for the long evenings this coming Winter. From statement chandeliers, to bauble inspired pendants, classic lanterns and scented candles, our selection of lighting and accessories will take you through the cold and into the new year. We bring you our festive guide on how to Get the glow this winter.

Welcome guests and family into your home with a hallway that’s warm and inviting. Set the mood and create ambience with lanterns and candles. Group together lanterns outside your home, either on the steps or in a porch. Place a selection of pure white pillar candles inside for a timeless yet contemporary look. For a festive touch, add fir and holly to either the outside or inside of the lanterns. Hang decorations from the handles and combine frosted snowflake designs with glass icicles.

Lanterns can also be placed inside the hallway if your home doesn’t have outside space or the chilly weather does not permit. If floor space is limited, choose a beautiful lantern pendant to hang in the hallway. The Paragon Pendant Light by CTO Lighting is a classic shape that feels festive in winter yet works all year round.

For an extra glow, decorate your hallway with luxurious scented candles. The Pearl Collection by Baobab produces complex scents that range from sophisticated White Musk – Jasmine to Wisteria -Orange Blossom. However, our favourite scent for winter is Black Rose and Ginger. The candles burn for an optimum of one thousand hours, lasting you all the way into the new year!

The dining room is arguably the most used space in the home this festive season. To Get the Glow we recommend Lasvit’s Neverending collection of chandeliers. We love the way that the hand-crafted shapes combine to make a modern lighting installation. Inspired by the iconic chandeliers that hang in

five of the world’s most eminent concert halls and theatres, the clear glass designs work beautifully in both traditional and contemporary homes.

To decorate the dining table, place the Corona Wreaths from Fink along the centre for a reflective metallic glow. To create a festive display, add white candles, decorative greenery and holly. If children are at the table forgo the candles for ivy and pretty flowers such as poinsettia and mistletoe.

When you and your guests retire to the living room for after dinner drinks and chocolates create a talking point with a unique and striking chandelier. The Eichholtz Kasbah chandelier oozes glitz and sparkle. The dome cage is hand-crafted with hundreds of glass-cut diamonds separated by intricately detailed wire borders. Available in three sizes, create a glamorous installation by combining them in a graduated drop.

If the Christmassy feeling hasn’t hit you just yet, Heathfield & Co’s selection of lighting will get you into the festive spirit. Designs such as the Basilica Pendant Light, the Mallory Table Lamp and the Lexington Pendant Light feature intricate glass designs that look like Christmas baubles. The striking glaze and radiant lustres will complement your Christmas scheme, yet they are timeless and subtle enough to work all year round.
