HOW TO: CHOOSE THE ULTIMATE CHRISTMAS WREATH

Christmas is the perfect time of year to get creative and spend quality time with friends and family. With only five weeks to go, we’re on the lookout for inspirational decorating schemes.

Whether your home is modern contemporary or cosy and chic, create a bespoke wreath that will create a talking point this holiday season. We have curated a list of our favourite styles and how to achieve the look.

Elegant

If you are drawn to classic and timeless decorations, create an elegant design with foliage, white berries and silvery ribbon. Try incorporating herbs, cinnamon sticks and dried citrus fruits to create a warming scent with pops of colour. Our favourite scents include dried orange, star anise, rosemary, sage and lavender.

Modern

To create a modern wreath, we suggest on-trend metallics for a touch of sparkle. We love the silvery star wreath and spray-painted copper leaves below. Another way of creating a personalised wreath design is to cut out relevant letters in either wood or cardboard and spray with white paint for a simple, yet effective design.

Hygge

One of our favourite looks for the winter months is the cosy Hygge trend. Use a Christmas tree topper in the shape of a star and add pieces of foliage and greenery to create a Skandi style wreath. Incorporate warming, sparkly lights and hang in the window for a welcoming glow. Try grouping your wreaths together in installations of three or five for a statement look.

See our Hygge guide for complementary Skandi interior ideas.

Glamorous

Incorporate feathers, baubles and sequins into your wreath for a glamorous and chic Christmas decoration. Choose big disco sequins layered in a seamless ring for a statement wreath that is modern and timeless. Style with all-white accessories and touches of blush pink for a pretty Christmas theme.

Peacock feathers create an Art Deco style that look beautiful with dark midnight blues, teal, amethyst and metallics. Pure white feathers also create a chic and glamorous look that still feels traditional. Add baubles to your design for the ultimate Christmas wreath. Keep tones monochrome with flashes of metallic for a tasteful design.

Once you have chosen your theme it’s time to get into the festive spirit and create your bespoke wreath. Put on your favourite Christmas tunes and make a warming drink. Traditional hot chocolate is always a winner: http://bit.ly/2zDTZTB

Or why not try something a little different –  stir up creative flavours such as peppermint, salted caramel or toasted coconut:  http://bit.ly/2hCUIgK

Whipped cream and marshmallows are a must.
